Jeff Essex (1960 - 2012)

Jeff Essex was a third-generation professional musician and founded Audiosyncracy in 1992. A veteran of Macromind and Macromedia, he served as Tech Support Lead for Director and SoundEdit. He was also an award-winning author. "Multimedia Sound and Music Studio" was published by Random House for the Apple New Media Library, and won the prestigious Computer Press Award for Best Advanced How-To Book. Jeff's audio UI work helped Digeo win an Emmy Award for their MoxiMediaCenter. He is credited on over 50 CD-ROM titles, and has four Communication Arts Interactive Design awards hanging on his trophy wall. He was a frequent speaker at national conferences, including the Game Developers Conference, Audio Engineering Society, Macromedia UCON and the Apple WWDC. He was also an active participant in the major interactive audio industry groups: Project Bar-B-Q, IASIG and GANG.
